In the spirit of Halloween, and my love for illustrations, I’d like to suggest that spiders, and their webs, are a lot like marketing. Let me explain!

The lure of the web.

Marketing isn't inherently bad, but as a consumer, we can fall prey to the lure of their web. While some spiders wait for their web to catch prey wandering by, other spiders rely on elaborate tactics! Here are just a few: 

😱 They make themselves look like a flower resting on a leaf. When the sun shines on their abdomen, it glitters and attracts their prey. Gotcha!

😈 They produce pheromones made by their female prey looking to mate. Once the male prey gets closer to look for their potential partner, they reel them in. Fooled ya!

👻 Some simulate vibrations to mimic their prey’s potential mate.

👺 Some eat other spider species, and pretend to be stuck in their prey’s web.
